Gama-Go, Sinderosa, and Modesto

I am really excited to upload our new Gama-Go t shirts and open up the Expensive Shirts category (as a nice contrast to the Cheap Shirts category). I am both happy and worried about this. Happy in that I think these shirts are amazing, but worried in that I am not sure if anyone will buy these shirts. On the other hand, I have dropped the price as much as I can and have a better price than any of the other sites I have seen. I hope you enjoy them.

If anyone cares, I helped kill Sinderosa 25 man last night. We are only the 3 Horde guild on our server to do it. We then wiped miserably against Arthas for a while and called it. I expect some long, painful raids coming up against him, but am happy to be really progressing.

I am driving to Modesto, Ca today for work. Who says I don't get to go the fun cities? Honestly, I can't think of or find anything interesting about Modesto. However, the local paper, the Modesto Bee, has a huge section of weird news of the world. Check it out.

WOW movie, more shirts, and breaking stuff.

Back to the computer. I ordered so many t shirts that whatever sucker has to photograph and upload content on all of them is going to go nuts. Of course, that's me, so expect to see my blogs get weirder over the next few weeks. At least 50 new shirts. I am also starting some new categories, including Rare, discontinued, and out of print shirts. I will be adding more, including a few odd rock t shirts I found from a few years ago that are no longer produced.

On the weird nerd news category, it looks like Sam Raimi is directing the World of Warcraft movie. This news fills me with some mixed feelings. Before the last Spiderman I would have been very happy. Now I have major trepidations. The potential suck factor is pretty huge. I can only hope he gets Bruce Campbell to do...anything in the movie.

I had some fun earlier tonight. I am installing yet another metal shelf in my office to accommodate more t shirts. In order to fit it I am having to get rid of one of those cheap particle board desks. Rather than haul it down four flights of stairs I dropped it over the side and watched it break into a million pieces (which I then swept up). Reminds me of my first online endeavor where my friends and I would video ourselves breaking monitors and other electronics with sledgehammers and so on. Microwave ovens are freakishly tough, by the way. We posted them on a site called www.rextuff.com, which no longer exists, unfortunately. I did find this video of some guys breaking a toilet with logs. Entertaining in a weird way.

Speaking of breaking stuff, I will soon have a new blog website up, so instead of going crazy trying to keep up content on one site I will lose it on two sites. Stay tuned and prepare to laugh.

DunDraCon, and incoming t shirts

Back from DunDraCon and I have to say I think it went great. Sold a lot of t shirts, but more importantly handed out a lot of cards. Winter was awesome, and proved to the nerd world that she is one of us by knowing a freakish amount of stuff about a bunch of different games.

It's weird what sold. I sold out the Conan t shirt the first day, and a ton of the Star Wars (at one point a bunch of people dressed in amazing Star Wars costumes showed up and bought a bunch, including a girl dressed as a sexy Imperial officer who I thought was super hot) shirts. Comics did well, but the cartoon t shirts did not. Number one request was larger sizes, so I am going to start stocking more XXl t shirts. Maybe XXXL if I can find them.

Now I am headed to Las Vegas for a the clothing industry trade show. It should be a great chance to add some new t shirts. I am adding a bunch of new stuff to our cheap t shirt and they will be coming in next week most likely. I am about to order some Rat Fink. I had about 100 people not even recognize it at the show, but I am a huge Big Daddy Roth fan and will order them anyway. To hell with smart buying decisions. Speaking of bad buying decisions I think I am also going to buy some Bob's Big Boy t shirts. I don't expect them to actually sell, but the kitsch value really makes me laugh. I'd link something for it, but the BBB web site is all about selling bad food and I don't want to contribute to American heart disease.

First day of Dundracon, Wolfman, and Las Vegas coming up.

First day of DunDraCon and I have to say I am really happy. Sales were brisk, but more importantly I talked to a ton of people who seemed really into what we were doing. Winter Sky was great, and proved to the world that she is a true nerd by talking LARP, RPG, and even Warhammer (apparently at one point she had a Bretonnian army that she painted herself. Also, props to my good friends at Endgame for some very good advice on how to best work the show. They are veterans of about a thousand game conventions.

To my surprise, my best selling shirt was the Conan What is Best In Life shirt. I thought Monty Python would be best but that one sold great. I am pretty much sold out of it but will hopefully get some more in next week.

Just heard an interview with Benicio Del Torro about Wolfman. I want to see it. On Tuesday I head to Las Vegas for a trade show where I will be picking out a ton of new shirts. Maybe I'll see it out there and one of the really nice theaters.

Images done, loading up for Dundra, and goals for this year.

Finally got all the new photos done. I can't say they are really good; instead, lets just say they suck less. I added a ton of closeup shots so if you are looking at a detailed shirt be sure to click on the different shots. Now I can work on the new headers and category pics.

All that will have to wait as now I have to go get everything ready for DunDraCon. I need to make about 10 different signs, forms, make sure my lame laptop works, get change for the cash box, get change, and load all that stuff in my poor car. Plus the Monty Python shirts just arrived and I have to upload them at some point.

It's exciting though, and after I finished the images I did a count and found I have 196 shirts on this site. Once I add the new Monty Python shirts I will have over 200. I think at that point I will celebrate by doing my first ever newsletter, so if you aren't on our mailing list get on it soon.

My goal is to have 300 shirt by mid summer and 500 by holiday. Of course by that time my tiny warehouse will be buried, but I think the key to success wit this business is going to be variety.

LARPing at the con

More or less getting everything ready for Dundracon, and have now had a chance to thing about what I am going to do for fun there. Of course, on Sunday I will be playing in the Warhammer tournament with my beloved Skaven, but what do do with the rest of the weekend (while not manning my booth with Winter)? Normally I would sit around with my Warhammer friends drinking and playing board games until we had cleared a circle of tables around us at least 20 feet deep, but last year a couple friends of mine and I were playing Arkham Horror when the hottest girl at the con sat down (with her lame ponytail boyfriend) to play. She was not just con hot but honest to god hot and seemed more than a little wild. They were both wearing themed costumes and were there to LARP (Live Action Role Play). I remembered what a good friend of mine once told me: "Dave, LARPers are the freaks of the gaming community, but if you want to hook up with hot girls at a con, it's the only way." So I guess this year I will be LARPing.

By the way, finding hilarious LARP videos online is not even challenging. One of my favorites involves a giant Tree Man.

I can only hope my costume is this good.

Dr. Horrible, Grid Wall, Accidents, and new product ideas.

I was just at a friends place last night and showed her Dr. Horrible’s Sing-along Blog. Awesome. I found a vendor who has Dr. Horrible t shirts and will be bringing them in shortly after DunDraCon. Should be great.

Trying to get everything ready for the show this weekend. It's shocking how many little dumb things you need to do a show. I predict at least four more trips to the hardware store or Office Depot before Friday. I am making my booth with

grid wall. I have used grid wall and many events and trust me, if you value your fingers never carry more than two sheets at a time. I was hoping to find some funny grid wall accidents (I have seen and experienced my share) but every site just wanted to sell me more grids. Instead I found this hilarious
accident video. What is it about a two year old girl kicking a guy in the nuts that makes me laugh so hard?

Thinking about my next round of orders. I have a number of shirts I want to bring in. Bruce Lee, the IT Crowd, and the Supernatural are at the top of my list. I am also trying to decide which direction to go outside of t shirts. I found a vendor that has some great Star Wars and Star Trek coffee mugs and shot glasses. Lunch boxes are on my mind. I will probably kill myself after figuring out how we are going to inventory them all, but buttons are on my mind too. If you have an idea or opinion as to what direction I should take please drop me an email at David@nerdkungfu.com. Thank. Talk to you all soon.

Dundracon, Winter Sky, Monty Python, and Vegas

Really excited about my booth at Dundracon. I will be setting up Friday the 12th and running the booth Saturday and Sunday. Joining me will be the lovely Winter Sky, a self proclaimed nerd who also happens to be a hot and all around cool chick. Stop by and say hi.

I heard that the original Resident Evil is out for Wii. What a classically awesome game. Funny thing is I started by playing Resident Evil 2 and then went back to RE1. In spite of much lower graphics and game play, RE1 creeped me out about 10 times more. Great game, and also our first introduction to the wonderfully evil Umbrella Corporation.

I am almost done with the reshooting of all my shirts project and updating the content. Check out my shirt descriptions to see new links to great sites of interest. I also just ordered some Monty Python t shirts, but unless they get here really early I won't be able to put them up before Dundra and will probably just load them up for the show. I am headed to a trade show in Las Vegas right after (see my Hangover t shirts (shameless plug)) so it might be a while, but I will get them up ASAP. Keep checking back to see when they get on.

Galaxy Quest and Nerdfighters

Watched Galaxy Quest the other night. Two of my friends are also sick so we sat around bitching to each other and watched the movie. God I love it. Guy is the man, and the inspiration for the Red Shirt section. He had the best line in the movie, "Did you guys ever WATCH the show?" I also found a cool site by and for nerds called Nerdfighters. Our kind of people, I think. Let me know what you think.

Feeling sick and upset women

Feeling kind of sick tonight, and had to blow off a date with a girl I really like. I am worried that she is pissed at me but don't know what to say or do. Anyway, I think I will stay home and work on the site most of the weekend. Apparently social networking is The Way to promote your site, so I guess this weekend I will build the Nerdkungfu Facebook page. Otherwise more shooting better images and looking for interesting links.

On the difference between zombie movies and horror movies

Working on updating my images with higher quality and more closeups. Also adding some more links to some of the shirts and updating the horror and zombie categories. Some people ask me why I have separate zombie and horror movie categories, but I really see a huge difference. Horror movies are all about people more or less being helpless and killed without much chance to fight back, until the end when the heroine figures out that Freddy Krueger will die (at least for this episode) if she can trick him into looking at a mirror or something equally lame. The point is people are helpless and often tortured (Saw being the premium example of this). Zombie movies, on the other hand, are desperate fights for survival, but all the people can and usually do fight back, even in the face of overwhelming odds. I much more prefer zombie to horror movies, as I am a fan of the human spirit and drive to survive. Of course, there is fun to be had in a good horror movie, if only to keep a body count.

Cheap t shirts and Warhammer rankings

New cheap shirts, including a ton of very cool vintage Soviet Union stuff and my new fav, Our Friend the Atom. Check them out. I am watching Season 4 of Stargate Atlantis. Cool but slightly disappointing like you asked for Dijon mustard but they only had regular. I just don't care about the characters like I did for SG1. Glad to see Sam again though. My Skaven army is starting to come together. I also found out that I ended last year ranked number 13 in the country for Warhammer GTs. Not bad, but it seems the ranking system favors attending a ton of mid range tournaments and just placing in the top 10. First tournament of the season for me is coming up next month so I have to get some paint done soon. I will also have a booth set up so if you are going to be at Dundracon stop by and say hi.

Dundracon upcoming

Just uploaded Einstein shirts, and found out a lot of interesting stuff about him, and a flash game called the Quest for Einstein's Brain. I linked a lot of it so check them out. I also added the new Political and Cheap Shirts categories and uploaded shirts into them both. I will have more added by tomorrow so check it out. On a personal note, I played Warhammer the other night and the first new Skaven list I have felt was right for me fought a much tougher list to a draw. I am happy. I am getting ready for our booth at Dundracon and have hired a very beautiful girl (who is also a nerd) to help me work the booth. If you are going to Dundracon stop by and say hi. If you are interested in Dundracon check it out here http://www.dundracon.com/ . Last year some friends of mine bought booze at the hotel bar and got yelled at by one of the volunteers for having alcohol. Turns out he was grossly overstepping his authority as the booze was perfectly legal as long it was from the hotel, so four of my friends are attending free, courtesy of the volunteer, who shall remain nameless (but who strongly resembles the Travelocity Gnome)

Avatar Baby Names

Read an article today that said some parents are choosing baby names from the movie Avatar. I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, if you are going to be a nerd, don't mess around. Do it to the hilt. On the other hand, you are broadcasting to anyone who meets your child that his or her parents are nerds and for kids in school that is like blood in the water. My poor sister has a name that rhymes with many other unfortunate words and I used it to torture her incessantly. If you want to read the article I linked it to the Hangover Baby Carrier shirt I just uploaded. I also uploaded Gumby, Mr. Bill, and Felix the cat shirts. Enjoy!

Friday Night

Out late last night at my friend Ed's birthday thing. We went to this great wood fired pizza place that by happy coincidence has a full bar. We spend most of the night talking about women and Warhammer. The new Skaven book is out and I was speaking with a couple other Skaven players on army builds, as well as an intense conversation on sportsmanship and table etiquette. I wish I could find some Warhammer t shirts, but apparently Games Workshop plan for making more money is not to produce cool additional products for their customers but rather to screw their long time loyal customers by offering less for more, is you know what I mean. Anyway, this weekend I will be uploading t shirts from The Office, Idiocracy, House, Gumby, Felix the Cat, and Mr. Bill. Check them out later. Have a great weekend.

Some thoughts on Two face

I think Two Face is my favorite comic book villain. He is a tragic comic villain in the truest sense: he is Bruce Wayne's former best friend, is truly insane, and personally tortured by his life. All the Batman villains are great, if only because they are motivated by things other than simple cash or being evil, but this one is great. Two Face is the villain who breaks Batman's heart. Batman is always trying to save Harvey Dent. Plus his coin is really interesting. I read a comic where Two Face tied up Batman on a sinking ship. There was a homeless man trapped on the boat. Two Face was rowing away but has to stop. After an obvious mental struggle he pulls out his coin and flips it. It comes up good heads and so he is forced to go back and rescue the homeless man. Not your typical villain.

Jan. 14th

Jan. 14th, 2010. Inspired by the technology behind Avatar, I have decided to upgrade all my t shirt images (actually, I found out I had the white balance set incorrectly on my camera, which is why they all look a little too yellow). I am working through it and also updating my comments on each shirt. I just added some Buffy t shirts and the new images just looked too good compared to the old ones. I am running to the city today but am working on it every day, and am about 1/4 of the way through. I heard that Sam Raimi will not be doing the next Spider Man, and to be honest I am not at all disappointed. I think he more or less butchered the last one (Green Goblin on a snowboard? The entire Venom story in ten minutes? Come on). I don't know who they got to replace him, but hopefully it is someone who actually reads comic books. Of course, with Disney in charge it could be anyone. Not sure how I feel about making Spider Man younger. Sounds like they are going to go for the New Moon teenybopper crowd, which gives me a stomach ache. Peter Parker is supposed to be a geek (hence my liking of him) not some teenage hunk.

My first two blogs from my site

Jan. 10th, 2010. Just saw Avatar for the 3rd time. Next time will be in 3D Imax. Great movie. I even like the story, although people tell me it's pretty much Pocahontas scene for scene. Fortunately I usually avoid Disney drivel. SPOILER ALERT: if you haven't seen it stop reading and go see it now. My two questions from the movie are do arrows break military windshield or not? It seems like sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. The second question is what would motivated super colonel to take his entire force into the one area on the planet where all their cool technology ceases to work for them? I would have sat back and rained long distance hell on them. Also I was disappointed when the hot Hispanic chick died. She was very cute. Anyway, great movie. Go see it right now. We need to support movies like this so they will keep making them.

Jan. 7th, 2010. Welcome to my site. This is dedicated to nerds around the world who are ready to throw off the yoke of "cool" oppression and revel in their personal nature. Show the world where you really sit with a Darth Vader or classic Nintendo t shirt. Let the ignorant, unwashed masses wallow in their sports, reality tv shows, and high school popularity.
